Gypsum-based plasterwork Diamond, imperial
Hello everyone, in this video we are giving some Tips on how to apply a Gypsum-based Veneer plaster system.
You first start with a bonding agent over the sheetrock, drywall, gypsum board, plaster board, whatever you want to call this gypsum based board it’s basically the same stuff with folks from different areas calling it different names.
NOTE: if the board is blue board or gray you don’t need a bonding agent as this is specifically engineered to receive a veneer finish, if not sure apply a bonding agent.
Now you’re ready to spread by hawk and trowel either Diamond or Imperial base coats.
” Note: Imperial is stronger than Diamond base coat, so naturally I prefer this product.”
You then allow this veneer base coat to dry, a little less than an hour depending on weather, then you are ready to apply the veneer finish coat.
It’s again your choice to use Diamond or Imperial, the bottom line is both of these finishes are externally strong and also water resistant thats why so many hospitals and schools have them applied.
When applied properly veneer plaster sort of feels like glass and is somewhat cool to the touch when cured or dried.
For me these Gypsum-based plasters save time from waiting for the taping muds to set on three different days plus there no sanding. The extra cost is a wash as the time save pays for itself.
