The Kindness Rocks Project

The Kindness Rocks Project

The idea is to decorate rocks or other found items in nature. Hide them in various locations to brighten someone’s day. You can use paint, chalk, crayons, sharpies, stickers etc… as long as it has a coat of sealer over it to preserve the art. Sealing it so it is weatherproof. On the back of your masterpiece write with a sharpie a picture of the facebook symbol and the name of your group so people who find the rock can post a picture of it to the group.
This is meant to be fun for everyone of all ages and abilities. Get creative and get outside. Remember to be respectful of private property and businesses.

SUPPLIES:
ROCKS: From nature or purchased at a nursery or craft store.
PAINTS: All kinds of craft, waterbase, latex or acrylic paints work well for rocks. Walmart carries Apple Barrel paints that start at 50 cents a bottle.
PAINT PENS: Paint pens such as Posca work well. I have not seen them sold locally but they are available on Ebay and Amazon. They cover well, dry quick, dont smear.
COLORED PENCILS, GEL PENS, SHARPIES: Yes you can use these.. Sharpies will run when sprayed with sealer. I find that if you use a coat of modge podge before spraying with sealer sharpie will not run.
MODGE PODGE: If you are using a label apply several coats of modge podge then spray with sealer. Modge podge does not hold up well against the elements by itself.
CLEAR COAT SEALER: You can find this in spray paint aisle. There are several different brands available. You can use gloss or matte (the choice is yours). Make sure to spray a couple coats so your art will last a long time out in the elements.
