How do you remove old, hard mastic from ceramic tile?
These vintage tiles had special meaning to their owner, so it was important that the mastic was removed without damaging the ceramic tile.
The mastic (tile glue) was softened with an overnight soak in EaCo Chem’s Graf-Ex. It easily scraped off without damage to the tile. Graf-Ex will also effectively remove the sealer, so if this is not part of your goal, be cautious not to let the chemical touch the face of the tile.
