Is your safe less than 750 pounds? Believe it or not, it if is, it’s considered “portable”. Bolting the safe into a concrete foundation changes that from portable to permanent. If you live in earthquake or tornado territory, even more reason to secure your safe to a foundation.

Almost all safes are predrilled in the bottom for bolting down into the foundation. Once the safe is in place, simply drill down through the existing holes into the concrete. Sink your bolts and you’re done! With the larger gun or office safes, there is no marking and moving the safe around; it’s done all while the safe is in place. Smaller safes may have to be moved because your drilling equipment may not fit inside the safe.

We recommend bolting all safes down if possible, even 1,500 pound safes – especially if it’s in the garage. You’ve invested in the safe to protect your valuables, so why not go the one step further to protect your safe from theft. Insurance companies really like to know your safe is bolted down!
Regardless of the type of bolts used (We like “Strike anchors”), it’s better to do it than not.
