When a wet area or puddle is discovered, find the source. Once identified, continuously wipe down or sop up affected areas. You’ll burn through paper towels quickly, so reach for bath or beach towels to do the job. Be especially wary it the leak is gettering water close to electrical outlets, switches, or the fuse box. If the leak is in a slideout and more than a trickle, consider pulling it in until the rain stops.
Since moisture is the biggest component in creating water damage, it is extremely important that wet areas are allowed to dry out completely. Since air flow helps accelerate the drying process, Randy recommends using a fan.
When completely dry, you can proceed to inspect the leak’s origin and make the necessary repairs. Don’t wait and risk further damage. The leak is not going to fix itself.
