The door step on the North side of my home drinks up rain water and over the years this has caused some wood rot along the bottom of the door frame. Not wanting to go to the trouble of tearing up the door frame, I drilled three holes at the bottom of the door frame on each side, and injected multiple applications of Thompson’s Water seal with a syringe. When the sealant cures I will inject gorilla glue to fill remaining voids.
I’ve done this about a year ago and it’s been exposed to plenty of wet weather. The door frame and footer boards are completely water proof. This sure as hell beats tearing up the door frame.
