As a demonstration of alternative building techniques, Ames Research Laboratories constructed a concrete block building without the aid of mortar. The only adhesive used was Ames’® Blue Max™, an industrial strength waterproof coating that also has great adhesive capabilities and is easy to apply as the movie demonstrates. Blue Max was developed as a flexible, impervious waterproof coating but its strength and adhesion is so powerful it can also be used to construct a concrete building. We laid a concrete foundation then coated the tops and bottoms of cinder block with Blue Max. As we laid the blocks we also painted their seams with Blue Max. We used ONLY Blue Max to glue together a 10 foot high cinder block building. No nails, no mortar just Blue Max.
