This video demonstrates how to make a liquid solution which, once applied to fabric and allowed to dry, makes fabric take on hydrophobic properties, all out of nothing more than mineral spirits and liquid silicone.

The ideal ratio of Liquid Silicone to Mineral Spirits is 1:6, meaning that if I put one part Liquid Silicone then I will put six parts Mineral Spirit. With this ratio you could get about 1,500 uses out of a 10-ounce silicone tube and over 25,000 out of a 1-quart Mineral Spirit container.
