  • While I can’t sell you the exact tail in the video (it was made for another client), I can make you one like it! Made entirely of durable, flexible silicone rubber (the same material used in movies for some of their props, make-up and special effects). Can be made to fit any body style, any dimensions, and can be made any color, any choice of side and dorsal moldings (four side moldings as well as one longer dorsal fin molding were used in the production of the tail in the video), and any choice of fluke design. The fluke is the main “flipper” part of the tail, where the wearers’ feet are concealed.

Have an idea for a specific tail design? We can make it! We offer several standard scale designs for you to choose from, and use only the highest-quality materials. Each tail is hand made, from scratch. Practically nothing in our facility is computer generated, machine-fabricated or has a typical cookie-cutter design, ensuring that your tail is as unique as you are. Likewise, the handmade nature of our tails also means there is design and production time involved. We listen to what you, the buyer wants. What features. Your dimensions. What look and feel you are striving for. Then we go to work. Design and production can take anywhere from a minimum of one month, to 2 1/2 months. Part of this time frame involves what other works of art and creations we are stirring up for other mer-folk like yourself! So, it’s essential to get your orders in ASAP.

Naturally, our busiest time is late winter – early summer, as the mer-community is gearing up and prepping for the upcoming summer swimming season.

Our tails also come with lifetime repair. Hit a rock while swimming and create a small hole? No problem! Send it back to us. We’ll repair it, free of charge. All you pay is shipping to and from.

As you can imagine, with all the labor, materials, and effort going in to each unique tail, they are by no means cheap. We do not make cheap tails. Our tails are designed to last, and to withstand pretty much any wear-and-tear you can put them through. The saying goes, “You get what you pay for.” Well, at Mermaid Creations, we are all about high-quality, long-lasting, professionally-looking and eye-appealing mer-folk tails, for men and women.

We offer a number of means of payment acceptance. Paypal and money orders are our two most commonly-accepted formats. We offer a pay-as-you go plan as well. It’s sort of like a lay-a-way plan: You pay a non-fundandable, upfront start-up amount equal to 50% of the cost of the tail. This allows us to go ahead and place the order for the necessary materials. Once you make this payment, you are committing yourself to paying the balance, because once we order supplies and start work, refunds are pretty much out-of-the-question (our suppliers won’t accept used supplies for return). Once you pay the balance, the tail is shipped. Easy as that! We know- waiting is the hardest part. But, we wanted to make our tails as affordable as possible, to as many members of the mer-community as possible, and we fully understand that few people have the full funds just lying around on the counter or in the bottom dresser drawer.

Want to see the tail on the person for whom it was designed? Copy & paste the following link, or click on the link in the upper left corner of the video towards the end: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yBbRYWsQY8g You’ll be able to see up close the tail, how well it fits like a glove, looking stunning in every way. Pay particular attention to the way it fits around the waist: no loose-fitting or gaps with our tails!

START TO FNISH – Time Lapse photography and commentary showing how to install a right-hand inswing patio door.

The opening for this door was 72″ wide by 80″ tall. This leaves 1/2″ around the door for adjustments.
    1. Install a wood sill and framing in the opening if needed to achieve the correct sized opening.
    2. Place lots of caulk or sill pan on the concrete. The sill pan must be used in some wood construction installations if water may seep through the patio door joints.
    3. When placing the patio door, check the bottom and top plates to make sure it is level. Make sure the door jamb is plumb on both sides, meaning that the door is plumb in and out of the opening and left and right of the opening.
    4. Place shims under the left or right door jamb to level the door. Place shims behind all the hinges and any other large gaps that are required to create an even reveal around the doors. Use plastic shims so that water will not affect them.
    5. Install two long screws in the top hinges to attach the doors to the existing structure. This will help keep the doors structurally in place.
    6. Run caulk around the threshold, trim, and any other gaps where water may enter. Fill other gaps with window foam insulation.
    7. Install case molding around the door for a finished look.

The install time took me 5 hours because I had two old patio sliding doors to remove and plenty of prep work such as removing the old caulking and throwing away the old patio doors.
