    This video is to bring you a closer look at the National Guard Products 780SA. This is a clear anodized aluminum slimline automatic door bottom with a silicone insert. I have one removed here from the packaging. This is an automatic door bottom and we are going to talk a lot about what they are. I will mention how they are an elegant solution to seal the bottom of the door. Lets do a visual first. This is what they call a slimline and that is because it is petite and not very tall and not very thick. The 780 is representative of this profile. The S in the part number stands for silicone and that is important to know because this being silicone is also available in a V for vinyl. So you could do a 780V. The difference being that vinyl is less expensive and it is not nearly as robust of capable of handling exposure to ultraviolet, or capable of handling extreme temperatures. Silicone is a better choice all of the time except in the instance where you might have fifty of these to do and you are a contractor and the specifications might be loose or specifies vinyl. It is less expensive and in my opinion would be the only time you would use vinyl is because of the cost. 780 is the door bottom. The SV is next and that is the insert. The A is the reference to the finish which is clear anodized aluminum. Also, DKB you would get a dark bronze finish. A dark bronze finish is very typical as well. Now, as I mentioned earlier, I am going to say how elegant of a solution automatic door bottoms are. Lets get into what these are and why they are used and how they are used. First of all, there is a description below this video, slimline automatic door bottom with a silicone insert. The maximum drop is 1/2″ and that is very important to understand. This petite model can only drop 1/2″. You will want to be sure that you are not asking it to do a greater job. Generally this would be flush off to the bottom of the door which we will talk more about. If the distance from the bottom of the door to where you want to seal the top of your sill or threshold, if it is greater than 1/2″, you will need to select a different model or possibly cheat this down a little bit which is not at all recommended. So navigating which way to proceed in that event might be your next step, but so far so good, lets continue. Clear anodized aluminum with a grey silicone which is going to be the color of the silicone. On the DKB, I would expect the silicone to be black, although I’ve seen dark bronze from National Guard silicone. Dark bronze models from National Guard that have silicone inserts is grey as well. So if you wanted to be absolutely sure of what the finish is, prior to ordering it, please reach out to us and will address that first. Smoke and draft control UL listed category H, UL10B, UL10C fire rated up to 90 minutes. Acoustically rated, air infiltration tested, ANSI DHMA certified which is the governing body of the door industry. All of that conspires to mean that this is going to work great in applications that require that such as hotels. This is a nice little model that is not going to take a lot of room on the bottom of the door. Those doors are almost always smoke and draft control especially new construction. The fact that they are air infiltration tested and the fact that they are acoustically and engineered to attenuate the transfer of acoustic energy from one side to the other, all of that conspires again to make it perfect for a hotel application or a residential application as well. Given the fact that National Guard has other models that will absolutely significantly reduce the amount of clanking that you will hear because that inner housing will be lined with neoprene. When you get into heavier or larger or robust units, the degree to which they try to attenuate the transfer of all energy gets better as well. So they have got multiple lines of defense in that door bottom and that in effect helps reduce any sound that you hear from that.
