  • How to model a waterfall

After last week’s weirs, waterfalls are nature’s alternative. You can use similar techniques to the weirs but waterfalls are generally less structured so the water is more scattered.

    Tools and Materials

All of these materials are commonly available in either a DIY store or art shop. Online shops will also carry them.

Waterfall base materials – I used garden stones but you can use plaster rocks instead
Acrylic paints – for the base and water. I used Tamiya brown (XF-72) and olive green (XF-58) and Vallejo white
Dark India Ink in Isopropyl Alcohol wash – 3 teaspoons of ink to 1 pint of alcohol
    Cling film
    Masking Tape
Silicone adhesive or silicon sealant – preferably transparent but translucent will do
    Cocktail sticks
    Epoxy resin
    Mixing cup and stirrer
    Acrylic Gloss Medium
    Cotton Wool

Thanks to Paul at EDM Models for the Magic Water.

Silicone caulk thinned with Naptha is a pretty awesome material- you can tint it any color with oil paints and it dries nice and glossy. Ive used it for vomit, blood, general filth, and for making a silicone paint for silicone masks or other projects. I was testing because I needed a paint that acted like a skin for my Kracken I was building.
