Welcome to the Tufdek Installation Video. This will show you how to properly install Tufdek vinyl deck flooring using easy-to-follow, step by step directions. Tufdek is designed to be the strongest, longest lasting waterproof deck surface in the industry and will outperform all other waterproof decking products.
PVC is one of the most versatile materials in the building industry.
The deck surface must be clean, dry, and smooth before installation. All imperfections must be removed, sanded and filled with floor filler, otherwise it will show through the finished vinyl deck covering. Always check temperature and moisture levels prior to vinyl deck installation. Sand the entire deck surface. Any imperfections in the deck surface must be properly patched and sanded including knot holes and plywood joints. Prior to the vinyl deck installation, all necessary Tuf-Clad metal deck flashings must first be installed. The flashings must be installed at or below the level of the deck surface and sloping to the outside edge. Galvanized flashing can be installed over any gaps between your deck and the wall. Once the final deck sanding is complete be sure to thoroughly sweep or blow off the deck surface; it must be completely free of debris. When laying out the vinyl decking sheets, it is important to allow enough material to overhang the deck edges by 3 inches, and run up the wall by 6 – 8 inches, plus allow for overlapping seams of 1.5 inches on multiple vinyl sheets. Start with the first sheet along the decks outer edge, parallel with the edge’s flashings. Carefully roll out the vinyl deck flooring and accurately cut around any objects like posts. Once the first panel is properly cut in place you can then lay out the second panel, allowing for a 1.5 inch overlap of the first sheet.
Tufdek roll on latex is then applied using a Tufdek professional roller sleeve. Apply the vinyl decking adhesive onto the plywood deck surface using a one sided transfer application. Be sure to apply the vinyl deck adhesive with a consistent rate of coverage.
Start by folding back the Tufdek vinyl decking sheet. Apply the roll on adhesive to the deck surface and then fold the vinyl decking back over the adhesive, while it is still wet, allowing to the clue to transfer to the back of the vinyl sheet. The vinyl decking is then pushed into the adhesive to remove any wrinkles or bubbles. Repeat the same process for the other half of the vinyl decking. For vertical application such as up a wall, apply the vinyl adhesive to the back of the vinyl decking as well as to the wall. Allow the adhesive to become tacky before applying the vinyl to the wall. Place stables along the top edges of the vinyl. Once all the major vinyl deck sheeting is in place you can work on the other various details such as door sills and posts. Hot air welding of two vinyl decking sheets is done by placing the hot air welder between the two vinyl sheets at the seam and then melting the 2 pieces together using a welding roller to apply pressure. To hot air weld the Tufdek vinyl decking to Tuf-Clad PVC metal flashings, place the tip of the welder between the 2 materials while using the roller to press the 2 surfaces together. Use Tuf-Guard pre-made PVC corners around wooden posts and heat weld them to the deck surface. Making your Tufdek vinyl deck surface completely waterproof depends on the integrity of the seams.
