Rejuvenating Rubber With Baby/Talcum Powder

a guy who used to frequent the record shop i worked at a few years ago told me about this method, and it’s the first time i’ve tried it, and it has wonderful results!

let’s face it, rubber deteriorates over time and there’s not much you can do about it other than the method in this video. this will rejuvenate rubber that’s on its way out for whatever reason that may be. natural deterioration, improper cleaning, or simple age can make rubber sticky, gooey, dry, and and just kinda nasty in general to handle. this method will work on sticky rubber, if the rubber has gone gooey, it’s too late for it, it’ll need to be replaced. i don’t know if this works on dried out rubber or not, i can’t verify that, but it’s worth a dry if the rubber is not cracked.

any brand of baby powder that uses talcum powder should work just fine. if you’d rather not have the smell of baby powder, try looking in the men’s section of the pharmacy for just plain talcum powder. sometimes they still have it.
