There are a lot of videos out on the web that show how to fix loud annoying squeaks from skateboard trucks, but nearly all of them don’t actually fix the problem. Some how to videos actually show the trucks squeaking even after the person tried to fix it.

Most of the videos on the internet, if not all, recommend soap shavings in the pivot cup bushing. Although this may work on some trucks it usually has no lasting effects.

Soap is made from plant fat and/or animal fat and sodium hydroxide. Soap breaks down in moisture and does not work well as a lasting lubricant, which is what people are using it for.
We don’t recommend using lubricants or powders because they don’t last long, can damage the trucks bushings, are messy, and can attract dirt.

What we recommend using to fix squeaky skateboard trucks is pure paraffin wax. Paraffin wax works for a very long time. It is commonly used for thing like candle making, making food and candy shinny, sealing jars, and beauty products.

A lot of candles are made of pure paraffin wax, but many candles are also made from a mix of waxes including, paraffin wax, beeswax, tallow (beef fat), soy, and palm (carnauba) wax. These candle waxes are not nearly as slippery as paraffin wax, so we don’t recommend candles, unless you are absolutely sure they are just paraffin wax.

Paraffin wax is available at nearly all grocery stores and many drug stores. A popular brand in the USA is Gulf Wax. A box of wax is only around $5. You can save the rest, give the rest to a local shop for some stickers, or a little discount if they are willing, or use it for waxing ledges. Paraffin wax is the absolute best wax for ledges, rails, and curbs.

The following steps are used for all types of trucks
Steps for removing squeaks from noisy skateboard trucks:

1. Remove the hanger
2. Using a grater, knife, or potato peeler, shave small pieces of paraffin wax. You only need enough for small a couple big pinches.
3. Take a large pinch of wax and place it in the pivot cup bushing located in the truck baseplate. Try to cover the entire surface of the bushing. Use more was shaving if needed.
4 With a solid piece of wax rub both sides of the hanger where the kingpin bushings touch. Not all noise and squeaks come from the pivot cup bushings so it’s best to get every possible area.
5. Rub wax on the truck hanger pivot too. Just the area that goes in the pivot cup bushing.
6. Assemble the truck and hear the problem solved.
