BONDING CERAMIC TILES TO DISPLAY BOARDS
“Question: Are you bonding — Brick, Stone, Slate or Ceramic tiles to Display boards?”
“Tecbond hot melt adhesives are designed for instant bonding. They are easy to apply, clean and are very cost effective.
“They replace the use of messy, slow drying conventional tile cements or silicone sealants.
Tecbond’s range of high performance instant bonding adhesives, once set, form a tough flexible bond allowing the adhesive to flex with the board.”
“Here we have our range of Tecbond hot melt adhesives, starting with the Economical Tecbond 135 to the High Performance Extremely Flexible Tecbond 261 adhesive”
“Are your tiles falling off display boards? Then you should be using Tecbond 260 and 261 adhesive. They are unique, flexible, hot melt adhesives that are quite different to all other hot melt sticks. Once set they remain extremely flexible. This enables them to withstand both shock loading, and the stresses caused by thermal expansion.”
“The thermal expansion is an important factor with ceramic tile displays. The ceramic tiles do not expand or contract much with temperature changes, however the wooden boards they are attached to, do. This means that very high shear forces can occur along the adhesive line as the temperature changes.”
“The larger the tile, the larger the distance between the blobs of adhesive and the higher the stress due to the different expansion rates.
“Many ordinary hot melts initially look as strong as the Tecbond 260 or 261, but as the temperatures change, the less flexible adhesives are put under increasing stress.
